Hiking Devils Thumb in Far North Queensland (Repost)

One of the best, if not the best hike I've done in Far North Queensland is the Manjal Jimalji trail in Whyanbeel Valley, north of Mossman Daintree National Park. I've been up there few times and can't wait to do it again.  It's awesome. 🙂 https://youtu.be/BxNkHB0Lj6U Also known as Devils Thumb is this hike a difficult... Continue Reading →

Wallaman Falls

About a year ago we've visited Australia's tallest (300m) single drop waterfalls. Definitely worth it and if you're up for it go for a swim right under the waterfall. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Laqv8CDeajs – © Earthling Gunnar

Camping at Davies Creek NP

Beautiful & isolated campsites right next to the small Davies Creek in Dinden National Park in Far North Queensland. If you want to be in nature and get away from people go camping here. You can choose between the upper and the lower campgrounds but we're definitely recommending the upper ones because you can choose... Continue Reading →

Strawberries, needles & refugees

What are having Strawberries, needles and refugees in common?  https://twitter.com/i/status/1042581413101371392 "If you put needles in strawberries, you are scaring children and you are a grub but if you keep children on a prison island and make them want to kill themselves, you get a trophy." These are the words of a tweet from someone I... Continue Reading →

Lake Tinaroo

A few pictures of our latest camping trip at Lake Tinaroo. Campfire and camping right at the lake but expect lots of people if you go there in the high season or on school holidays. I recommend the Platypus Campground. No showers but clean toilets and much cheaper than the Caravan Park in Tinaroo. You... Continue Reading →

A snake, a forest and a waterfall.

Here are some pictures from the last few days. We've done a little bit of driving and visited the Daintree Rainforest  (one of the oldest rain forests in the world) and the Milla Milla Waterfalls at the Atherton Tablelands. I don't know the name of this little spider crawling along a handrail but what a... Continue Reading →

Butterfly

I was watering the plants today when this little fellow landed in front of me. It's known as the Australian Rustic Butterfly (Cupha proscope). - © Earthling Gunnar

A Road, a frog and a beach

There are only a few things I love more than road trips. 🙂 ["Climb behind the steering wheel... drive off  without once looking back; it's a long journey but it leads to freedom. Just be, whatever you are with whatever you have, and realise that that is enough to be happy.  There’s a whole world out... Continue Reading →
